Excelsior Yacht Gloss Varnish – Ebony is a high-quality, alkyd-based marine-grade varnish designed for interior and exterior timber (excluding floors). It combines stain and protective varnish in a single application, offering both deep color and robust weather resistance.

Key Features:

• Color & Finish: Deep, rich ebony tone with a glossy finish that highlights wood grain and color depth.

• UV & Weather Resistance: Engineered to withstand intense sun exposure, moisture, and humidity—ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

• Premium Composition: Formulated with alkyd resin for a tough, durable coating.

• Coverage: Applies at approximately 10–12 m² per litre 

• Recommended Coats: Use 2–4 coats for optimal protection and sheen 

• Drying & Re-coat Time: Becomes touch-dry in around 16 hours; each coat can be applied after about 16 hours .

• Application Methods: Can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed. Clean up with mineral turpentine/thinner.

✅ Usage & Best Practices

1. Surface Preparation
   Sand wood to bare surface (150–180 grit), remove dust, and ensure it's clean and dry for best adhesion.

2. Coating Technique
   Stir thoroughly before applying. Apply thin, even coats—barely enough to wet the surface. Wait ~16 hours, lightly sand with 320–400 grit between coats, then clean off dust for a smooth finish.

3. Intended Use
   Excellent for brightwork on boats, exterior trim, doors, and furniture. Not suitable for floors.

4. Maintenance Advice
   Expect 1–3 years of durability in outdoor applications. Touch up annually, especially in direct sunlight, and refresh by lightly scuffing before re-coating to maintain the glossy sheen and protection.
