Excelsior One-Pack Etch Primer – Black (1 L) is a single-component, acid-etching wash primer developed for promoting adhesion and corrosion resistance on various bare substrates including mild steel, aluminum, galvanized iron, PVC, and plastic. It delivers a solid black base coat that enhances topcoat appearance and durability.

• Acid Etching Formula: Contains etching agents that chemically "bite" into bare metal to dramatically improve primer adhesion. 

• Corrosion Resistance: Includes anti-corrosive pigments, helping protect bare metal from early rust formation.

• Quick Drying: Formulated for fast drying, facilitating efficient project workflows. 

• Heat Resistance: Can withstand temperatures up to ~700 °C, making it appropriate for applications near heat sources. 

• Coverage: Provides approximately 7 m² per litre, giving efficient coverage. 

• Color & Finish: Deep, matte black finish that ensures a consistent and professional topcoat base.

• Ideal for Bare Metals: Mild steel, aluminum, and galvanized iron.

• Also on Plastics: Suitable for adhesion to PVC piping, gutters, and other rigid plastics where standard primers often fail.

• Versatile Recoat Options: Acts as a strong foundation for conventional primers, enamels, and epoxy tar systems—but not compatible with normal epoxy enamels. 

🧰 Usage Guidelines

1. Surface Prep

• Remove loose rust, mill scale, and contaminants. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and degreased.

2. Application

• Apply thin, even coats via brush, roller, or spray—just enough to coat the surface without pooling.

3. Drying & Recoat

• Quick-drying formulation—exact times vary with temperature and humidity, but generally fast-setting.

• Recoat with suitable topcoats after primer has dried. Not recommended as a standalone exposed finish.

4. Limitations

• Not a filler—it won't smooth defects.

• Not designed for direct exposure without topcoat.

• Avoid over-thick application to maintain adhesion; too much primer or coating over filler may lead to delamination.
