Excelsior One-Pack Etch Primer – Red Oxide (1 L) is a single-component, acid-etching wash primer designed to promote adhesion and corrosion resistance on bare metal surfaces. It is ideal for use on mild steel, aluminum, galvanized iron, and even tough-to-stick surfaces like PVC pipes and gutters.

• Acid Etching Properties: The built-in etchant chemically ‘bites’ into bare metal, enhancing primer adhesion.  

• Corrosion Protection: Contains anti-corrosive pigments that inhibit early-stage rust formation.

• Quick-Drying: Formulated for fast drying, allowing efficient workflow in workshop and industrial settings. 

• Temperature Resistance: Withstands up to 700 °C, making it suitable for applications exposed to heat.

   Ideal Applications

  • Bare-metal prep for mild steel, aluminum, galvanized iron, PVC, and gutters.

  • Primer undercoat before applying conventional enamel or epoxy tar coatings.

  • Suitable for industrial, automotive, and DIY maintenance jobs requiring fast adhesion and corrosion protection.

  • Spread Rate: Approximately 7 m² per litre, offering good coverage per coat. 

   

   Tips & Considerations

  • Use sparingly: Thin coats ensure good chemical etch; excess can flake.  

  • Topcoat soon: Etch primers are not weatherproof—apply topcoat within recommended recoat window.

  • Avoid under epoxy enamels or body filler: May chemically react and degrade adhesion. Use high-build or epoxy primer over it instead.
